Walk Da Nang between the river and the beach
Da Nang has a long beach on one side and a riverfront lined with bridges on the other. FOG starts the map dark and clears only what you walk, and both edges make long clean lines.
The river
The Han River runs through the centre, with promenades on both banks. Its bridges are lit at night, and the Dragon Bridge has a dragon shaped arch that breathes fire and water on weekend evenings. The Han Market sells everything in a covered hall.
The city centre on the west bank is a grid of shops and cafes.
The beach and the mountains
East of the river, My Khe beach runs for kilometres along the sea, with a long promenade behind it. North, the Son Tra peninsula rises steeply, with a large white statue of the Lady Buddha and forest roads.
South, the Marble Mountains are limestone hills with caves and pagodas, a short ride away. A day: the river promenades, across the Dragon Bridge, along the beach.
Coverage
Da Nang is flat and modern, so it is easy to walk long distances. The river and the beach form two long parallel lines on the map.
It is hot most of the year, and the rainy season brings storms in autumn.
Background walking, private by design
FOG reveals the map with the screen off. Turn on background exploring and every street you cover in Da Nang clears on its own, whether you were sightseeing or just walking back from the shops. On Android a notification stays up while it runs, so you always know it is on.
Your trail is processed and stored only on the device. There is no account and nothing is uploaded, ever. Export a GPX backup from Settings so the map survives a lost phone. Ranks, gear for your character and a monthly and yearly logbook all grow out of the same walking, and the basics are free.
