Walk Oklahoma City from Bricktown
Oklahoma City has a warehouse district on a canal, a big new park downtown and a river with paths along it. FOG starts the map dark and clears only what you walk, and the centre is more walkable than people expect.
Bricktown
Bricktown is the old warehouse district east of downtown, now full of restaurants and bars. The Bricktown Canal runs through it, with paths along both sides and water taxis.
The ballpark, Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, sits at its edge. The Oklahoma City National Memorial, on the site of the 1995 bombing, is a few blocks northwest, with a reflecting pool and a field of empty chairs.
Parks and districts
Scissortail Park, south of downtown, is a large park with lawns, a lake and a farmers market, and a pedestrian bridge over the interstate. The Myriad Botanical Gardens, downtown, have the Crystal Bridge Conservatory, a tropical greenhouse.
The Oklahoma River, south of the centre, has trails along both banks. Districts such as Midtown, the Plaza District and the Paseo Arts District, north of downtown, have shops and galleries.
Weather
Summers are hot, and spring has storms. Autumn is the best season for walking.
The city is spread out, but the centre from Bricktown to Scissortail Park is compact, and the canal and the river make long lines.
Share the shape you walked
After a proper walk FOG can offer a walk card: the shape of the route you just covered in Oklahoma City, ready to post as a square, a story or the bare shape. The lifetime card shows the area you have unfogged, the distance travelled and how much of the city you have lit.
It all runs on your phone with no account and no cloud. Choose miles in Settings, pick a fog colour (Midnight, Abyss, Violet, Ember or Slate) and a density, and walk. Exploring is free, and one purchase of FOG Unlimited opens every rank, every path and Google Timeline and GPX import.
