Walk Palma from La Seu to the sea

Cathedral and old town
La Seu, the cathedral, stands on the old sea wall beside the Almudaina palace, with the Parc de la Mar and its lake below. Behind them, the old town climbs into narrow streets, stone courtyards and churches, with the Arab baths hidden in the quarter to the east.
The Placa Major and the shopping street around it lead down to the Passeig des Born, a tree-lined boulevard. On the western edge, the Llotja is the old Gothic exchange, next to the Es Baluard museum built into the bastion.
Seafront and Bellver
The Paseo Maritimo is a long promenade along the harbour, lined with yachts. Inland from it, Santa Catalina is a former fishermen's quarter with a busy market and restaurants. East of the cathedral, a seafront path runs toward Portixol and its small harbour.
Bellver Castle, a circular Gothic castle, stands on a wooded hill west of the centre. The climb through the pine woods gives a wide view of the bay.
Heat and crowds
Summers are hot and the city is busy with visitors, especially near the cathedral. The seafront offers a breeze.
The old town is mostly level with some short climbs; Bellver is the main hill.
